Mulch those leaves! It's wonderful compost for next year's gardens and borders!
I love the smell of burning leaves but I resist the caveman urge to stand around and grunt at fire to save my lovely leaves for that wonderfully useful "gold of the dirt" compost. When we turn the garden for the Spring planting, my compost pile will be added and turned in to give it that first drink of nutrients.
If you have flower borders rake the leaves into them. This forms a blanket for the winter that will protect your plants and give an added boost to surge forward when the warmth of Spring awakens them.
Compost, Save, Recycle! Live Green, Live Clean!
