"After the Storm"
This past week has proven brutal to most of the country in the form of severe weather. Here in the Southeast we experienced heavy rains. This is a few shots taken by photographer Elizabeth Dunlap of the Haw River as it travels through Sweppsonville, NC on Dec. 9th. Such awesome, raw power in water.
It's swirling rapids and engulfment of the banks show how powerful nature can be. It's a humbling silent force when you are standing on the banks watching the debris flowing swiftly by. Hugh trees do a bob and weave dance as they float through the rapids and continue on their way to an unknown destination of a far away bank.
I look down and see a large pole holding on to the bank as if it is a rest break. It could let go and continue on it's travels at any given moment.
The fire siren blares in the near distance and it sends chills down my spine. This is an awesome piece of nature.
